MOTORING FATALITIES
Fifteen Persons Killed In May Fifteen persons (14 in the North Island and One in the South) were killed during May as the result of 14 motor accidents —one fewer than for May last year, states the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. L. Laurensou. This is an increase of six on the number for April, which is attributed mainly to the shortening of daylight and the deterioration in the weather. Tsn of the accidents occurred at night and four during daylight. The fatalities included two drivers of motor-vehicles and five passengers, five cyclists, two motorcyclists and one pedestrian. Eleven.deaths were due to collisions, two to motcrvehicles overturning, and two to motorvehicles running over banks. Naturally the fatalities have decreased with the restrictions on petrol. The total for May, 1939, was 25.
