WOMEN’S HOCKEY

Weather conditions on Saturday were not appropriate for the continuation of the Wellington Women’s Hockey Association’s grade competitions, fields once again being on the easy side. The outstanding match of the day was that between the two top reams in the senior A division, College Old Girls and Hutt United. Play was very fast throughout, and though College Old Girls won by a comfortable margin, Hutt United threw away some good scoring chances. The outstanding player for College Old Girls was .Miss S.' Sinßh. left fullback, who held up the United attack time and again, giving an excellent, performance In defence. Old Girls’ forward line worked in good unison. • For Hutt United both wings, Miss Strange and Mrs. Love (Miss M. Black), were prominent throughout the play, while at centre llnlf 'Miss T. Monk was outstanding. Petone Technical Old Girls and Varsity drew in a keen tussle. Play throughout, was interesting and. judging by the performance of both teams, exceptional improvement can he expected as they settle down. Results were: —
