Janies Haynio Hirini, a labourer, age! 39. was charged before Air. Stout, SAL, in tlie -Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, witli assault on a child aged four years and one month with intent to commit rape. After evidence had been given, Hirini pleaded not guilty anfl was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. .On tlie application of accused’s counsel. Air. J. B. Bergin, bail was reduced to £2OO. with two sureties of £lO6 each.
