Further Remand Granted When Mary Stuart Walker, married woman, aged 37, appeared before Mr. Stout, SAI., in the Magistrates Court, Wellington, yesterday on remand on a charge of the attempted murder ot. Ricnard Townsend Chorley, a soldier, it was stated by Detective-Sergeant Compton who appeared for the police, that Chorley was still in a critical condition. Mr. Compton asked for a further remand to May 31. Mr. W. J. Stacey ’ accused, renewed his application for bail, stating that accused could, it necessary, report to the police, three times a day. The facts were, said Mr. Stacey, that on May 16 Chorley had a' relapse, and day by day since the hospital had recorded no change in his condition. If bail could not be granted, he asked if a shorter period of remand could be given. “The last report I had was that we might be wanted at the hospital at any minute. I.think we had better leave it at that,” said Mr. Stout in granting the remand asked for by the police.
