HUTT COUNTY RATES

In reply to a recent inquiry as to the amount of general rates collected and expended in certain districts of the Hutt County, the county clerk, _ Mr. H. K. Robinson, advises the following:— In Stokes Valley for the three years ended March 31. 1944. the general rate receipts averaged £452, less £75 annual charges on main highways loans, resulting in a net receipt of £377. The average annual expenditure for Stokes Valley was £499 Over the same period the Pinehaven and Blue Mountains district yielded an average receipt of £225, less £62 annual charges on main highways loans, giving a net receipt of £163. The average expenditure ou roads in this district was £2SI. which does not include the portion of Whiteman's Valley Road, in the Heretauuga Riding, which gives access to I’inehaven and other districts, where the average expenditure for the past three years was £231.
