Mr C M. Bowden, M.P. for Wellington West, left Wellington yesterday on a short business trip to Australia. Mr. C. E. Bankes Amery, leader of the United Kingdom Food Mission to Australia and New Zealand, is in Auckland. Mr. R. Sievers has been re-elected president of the Makara-Hutt Valley branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Commissioner J. Evan Smith, territorial commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, with Commissioner W . R. Dalziel, territorial commander for South Australia, who came to New Zealand for the annual congress meetings, left Wellington last night for a tour of the South Island.
