THIEVES FOILED

Attempt To Bloav Safe (tty Telegraph.—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, April 9. Thieves were foiled in their attempt to blow the safe at the Pahiatua railway station on Friday night or early’ Saturday morning when the sale door jammed. Their escape was to have been made in a stolen car standing outside the station, but the gears had locked and they were unable, despite apparent attempts to push Hie car, to start off. and they abandoned the vehicle. On Salurday night another car was stolen from Pahiatua, and it is believed Hie safe-breakers may have been in hiding during Hie flay and converted the secund ear late at night.
