RECORD STREET DAY
Over £lOOO Collected For Y.W.C.A. Funds
A record response to the Wellington Y.W.C.A.’s appeal for funds was made on Wednesday, when more than £lOOO was collected by the 400 street-day helpers and their friends who were stationed at busy vantage points throughout the city and several suburbs. This sum exceeded any previous amount resulting from the association’s street day, which is held once every three years. A varied lunch-hour programme was presented at Liberty Corner, when entertainments were given by the Y.W.C.A. Forces’ Hospitality Revue and a concert party from the Gaiety Club. The Y.W.C.A.'s board of directors thanks those who contributed toward the effort, the amount netted being allocated to furthering and maintaining its many activities for young women in Wellington.
