TRAM TRANSPORT
Auckland Overcrowding Doaiinion Special Service.
AUCKLAND, February 22.
Through the impossibility of getting more passengers on the overcrowded cars, hundreds of people along certain of the Auckland' Transport Board’s routes ara daily suffering delay and inconvenience in travelling to and from the city. Gathered at stopping places sometimes in groups of up to 10 and 15, these people are often passed by packed trams and have the ciioice of walking to their destination, taking a less direct route or waiting for the next convenient tram in the hope that it will have accommodation.
While it is generally realized that the transport board faces serious difficulties in increasing its staff and in providing additional trams, it is felt that the position could in some measure be relieved by a rearrangement of timetables.
