The U.S. Navy Department has announced that a 7200-ton British freighter drove ashore nt York. Maine, in a blinding blizzard last. Friday, and broke in half. Twenty-four of the crew of 4a perished. Rescuers’ efforts were hampered by the storm. Most of the suryivors are in hospital .
