Married In New Caledonia

(N.Z.E.F. Official News Service.) NEW CALEDONIA, February 5. Before an altar set under a native thatched shelter among the sprawling naionli trees of the Bougen Detachment of the Fourth New Zealand; General Hospital, 'Private Betty Margaret Findlay. N.Z.W.A.AjO., Gisborne, and Staff Sergeant Maurice Alfred. Iggulden, A.T.D., Auckland, were married by Padre Captain A. H. V. Michael, C.F., this afternoon. The sun shone brightly for this picturesque and colourful ceremony for which the altar had been beautifully decorated with greenery and white flowers by nursing sisters and W.A.A.C.’s. who later formed a guard of honour for the bride and groom. The khaki uniforms of the W.AA.C.’s added to the colour of the scene. The bride was given away by Colonel F. G. Sayers. Commanding Officer of the Fourth New Zealand General Hospital. The bridesmaids were Corporal Doris Julian, IN.Z.W.A-A.C.. Wellington. and 'Private Iris Thompson, N.Z. WjA.A.C., Auckland. The best man was (Lieutenant W. F. Chapman, Auckland. and the groomsman Lieutenant W. O’Meara, Auckland. The Base Training Depot Band played for the wedding and during the reception which followed in the A.N.S. recreation tent, when Brigadier W. W. Dove, M.C., presented the bride and groom with a cheque on behalf of the personnel.
