SERVICE PRODUCTION OF COMIC OPERA
Plans are in hand for the performance by Combined Services amateurs of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera, “The Pirates of Penzance,” to be staged in the Wellington Technical College Assembly Hall toward the end of next month. Rehearsals are now in progress. Three performances are to be given. The production will be in the hands of Miss Helen Gard’ner, whose work in connexion with tbe performance of “Dear Brutus” by s the Wellington Repertory Theatre was much admired. The musical director will be Mr. Harry Brusey. Every performer, soloists and chorus, will be from the armed services. The cast of characters is as follows: Mabel Stanley, iSergeant Audroa Lawson; Frederic. Staff-Sergeant Owen Bonifant; Pirate King, iSergeant Arthur Gaily; Major-General Stanley, Staff-r Sergeant L.
