AUSTRALIAN BUSH FIRES

MELBOURNE, January 19. Though no official estimate of bush fire damage is yet available, it is now believed to be about £5.000,000. Figures placed before the. special relief committee today showed that 3000 square miles of country have been burnt out, that 12,000 miles of main fencing have been destroyed, about 750 dwellings burnt, and one million sheep, 50,000 cattle, 1000 horses, 200,000 poultry, and 5000 hives of bees were also lost.
