SHIPPING RATES

LONDON, January 20. The “Times” city editor says 25 conference shipping lines and loading brokers in the Australian trade and five conference shipping lines in the New Zealand trade have intimated that increased freight rates, amounting to an equivalent of 33 1-3 per cent., will be applied after February to cargo shipped Australia and New Zealand. The increase brings the rates 50 per cent, above prewar level.
