LONDONERS’ LEAGUE

The Londoners’ League (Inc.) held a Christmas party recently at the Blind Social Club, 'Wellington. Many expressions of good will were read by the president, Dlr. T. E. Harrington, including a cablegram from Sir Prank NewsonSmith? Yord Mayor of London. Songs by Mrs. Q. Barrows and xylophone items by Elizabeth and John Tait were thoroughly enjoyed.

Recently six little girls, none of whom are over the age of 12, students of Standard 5, Eastbourne School, promoted a sale of work in aid of the activities of the New Zealand Bed Cross Society. For a long time they had been busy making faneywork and gollywogs, doing shoe shines and other things. The event was held on the tennis court of Mrs. Sandvi.g, York Bay, afternoon lea being served in the large sunroom. The promoters of the sale wore: Renn Sandvi.g, Bcvcr.ey Crone Diane Robinson, Daphne M ailing, Bettv Barclay and Margaret Roberts. The amount realized was £ll/11/-. This has boon credited to a special Empire e Ucd Cross Fund to supply synthetic varieties of vitamin D for feeding, distressed children in occupied territories.
