FIRE IN FURNITURE FACTORY

Severe damage to timber raeks and their slieltcr roofing was caused by n tir: which occurred nt. /e factory of S. S. Williams. Ltd.. Wriglil Street, Newtown, last uiglit. Tlio alarm was received by the fire brigade shortly after 7 p.m., and four machines were dispatched- from the Central Station and two from Constable Street. The fire had a good hold when they reached the e-cene, but was brought under control before any damage had occurred to tbe main factory and its machinery. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. Everything was in order when the factory was closed after work yesterday evening. Insurances were not available last night.
