BOMBS ON CALCUTTA
CALCUTTA, December 5.
Japanese planes raided the Calcutta area today and dropped bombs, which caused slight damage, and a number of casualties, some fatal. It was the first raid since April 27. and the first Japanese daylight raid on the city. Residents of the city took the raid calmly. An official communique states that the
Japanese bombers, escorted by fighters, attacked in two waves. Reports indicate that, two of the raiders were destroyed and four others were probably shot down by fighters and anti-aircraft guns.
