CONJECTURED PLANS
Western Front And The Balkans LONDON, December 5. The talks between Mr. Churchill, President Roosevelt and Marshal Stalin, nt Teheran are reported to have led to two new developments in the War. First, General J. C. Marshall, who took part in the talks, may go direct from Teheran to Britain to prepare for opening a western front against 'the Germans. Secondly, plans are bejieved to have been completed for a Three-Power offensive against'the Balkans, with the possibility of Turkey entering the war on the side of the Allies. The Swedish newspaper “Syenska Dagbladet” says that President Inonu of Turkey has left Ankara for Cairo. The German overseas radio stated that Mr. Churchill and President Roosevelt met President Inonu on Saturday. The radio added: “Turkish political circles believe that nd official communique will be published till "Wednesday or Thursday after the return of the Turkish statesmen.” German Surrender? The suggestion th.qt General Marshal! is going to Britain is made by the United States “Army and iNavy Register,” a semi-official journal of the American services. It also gives indirect support to rumours of German peace moves by stating: “Events in the near future may avoid the necessity for invasion.” The “Army and Navy Register” says that the necessity for the invasion of Europe depends upon the decisions reached at Teheran and the results of these decisions in the next few weeks and months. [The above messages were received before the release of the declaration on the Teheran conference.]
