HUTT POLICE STATION
Need For New Building
The hope that it. would not be long before a suitable police station was erected in Lower Hutt, was expressed by the mavor, Mr. Andrews, when reviewing the affairs of the Hutt City Council at last night's meeting, which was the final for the year. ~, The matter was raised by Cr. . y. Gregory, when expressing the appreciation of (be councillors for the leadership given by .Mr. Andrews, and also referring to the excellent work performed by the mayoress. . , . The Hutt police bad carried on under very difficult conditions, said Mr. Andrews. Recently there bad been controvesv in the Press between a judge and a former Minister of the Crown on the conditions of prisons. Mr. Andrews said he had been amazed to think that a man in the position the .Minister was could allow the police to work under conditions such as applied at Lower Hutt. Now that the council was comfortably boused iu new premises and iHutt city had a new post office, Mr. Andrews said he hoped it. would not be long bciore a new police station was erected.
