MORE EVEN DIVISION
Comment By “The Times” (By Telegraph -Press Assn -Copyright-! (Special Correspondent.) (Received September 29, 9 p.m.) LONDON. September 28. The Times” in a lending article on the New Zealand General Election declares that a striking feature has been the large Labour majority in the service votes which saved Government seats in several constituencies. 4 ‘This may be an expression of gratitude,” the paper says, “for the care shown for the welfare of servicemen and their families both darings and after the war, but it reflects a general conviction that the Government has conducted New Zealand’s share of (he war with vigour, determination and efficiency and that’in the present critical situation it would bo safer to let them keep on with their work. "With parties more evenly divided, Parliament will gain in critical efficiency and will act as a brake on any tendency to use the war situation for partisan political objects.”, Reference is also made to the farmers vote. "The Times” adds t "They now seem to be reverting to their old political leanings. The immediate cause may be resentment against, the Act regulating the sale of land.”
