Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N’., September 2S. The Director of Civil, Defence has advised the Palmerston North City Council that the regional commissioner. Colonel Ciochetto, had made representations regarding subsidy payments on emergency water supply works, and that the department was unable to approve.any ot them, excepting the increase m ,the capacity of the lakelet and the river pumping plant. ... . , . The council is dissatisfied with tins reply in view of the commitments undertaken by it following an authorization given in November last. The mayor, Mr. Mansford, and Cr. Hodgens are to interview the director.
