WILL APPLETON National Candidate for Wellington Central. ABOUT 20 years ago I met Will Appleton for the first time. T had taken over the management of what is today one ot Wellington's leading industries. At the outset we hart a difference of opinion over one. aspect of the firm's operations—a field in which, I must confess, he had special knowledge. Alt "*■ four boys are in flic Services,‘three overseas. Thc eldest, a Y.M.C.A. secretary, was one of the first to enlist, but on medical grounds he has bad to stop in the Dominion. The second lad went with the Ist Echelon, and after serving as a motor-driver witii the Desert Patrol in Libya, went to Greece und Crete, where he was eventually captured. Reported missing for many months, he finally turned up a prisoner of war in Germany. The third lad is in New Caledonia, while the youngest is a Flying Officer in the N.Z. Typhoon Squadron. The girl is still a student al Queen Margaret College.
