AT THE SERVICE CLUBS
•Ste’ady rain made AA’ellington streets dismal at the weekend, so that the haven of warmth and cheer, provided iby the maiiy city service clubs, was doubly appreciated 'by the hundreds of servicemen on leave. In the flower-decked lounges, reading and writing passed the time, and dancing attracted very large crowds to the ballrooms. Home-made teas and suppers, provided by members and helpers, and the goods sent in to supplement cafeteria and kitchen stocks, made up appetizing light meals and snacks.
British women are asking that the law in England regarding the nationality ot women married to foreigners be brought into line with Australia and New Zealand law. Dlrs. Eva Hartres, writing trom England, mentioned this in a letter to (lie National Council of AVomen that was read ait the recent conference.
