Saturday Matches Next Season Saturday pennant competitions are to be held next summer, the Wellington Bowling Centre decided last night. The competitions ;-were not held last season, the centre tearing that transport of players would be ■difficult. Last night the playing of the .games in zones was discussed, but without hnalitv, and the details were left to a subcommittee. The decision includes both senior pennant and junior pennant. The midweek pennant competitions and matches tor (•various challenge trophies arc to be played as usual. , _ It was decided also not to conduct a fours tournament on Hutt Valley greens mext season, ns was done last season, but ’io plav the usual New Year pairs tournament on city and suburban greens. The Christmas fours tournament will start on December 27 this year, Boxing Day, the usual starting day, being a Sunday. February 2 was hxed as the date or veterans’ dav. and though it was pointed out that last’season the entry had been too large for all those willing to play to be given games, the centre decided not to alter the conditions. Championships are to be held on approximately the same dates as in previous years. A proposal by the Victoria club that each club be allowed to send its best pairs and fours to the championship competitions without the club having to find its representatives in competition was rejected.
