WOOLCOTT FORBES NOT GRANTED BAIL
SYDNEY, August 10. Saving he was not satisfied John Woolcott Forbes would not again try tc escape if given the opportunity, Mr. Justice Street, in the Supreme Court today, refused to grant him bail. Forbes, a former company director and manager, was brought back to Sydney from fib™®-* under police escort last week. He then made an impassioned plea for bail, wnicn was refused,. Forbes was September 1 on 31 charges. The Crown Prosecutor, tracing Forbes s history, outlines his absconding from bail in Bombay and his arrest in Mexico three years and a half later while he was travelling under another name and with a false passport.
