AIR TRAINING CORPS
More Recruits Wanted
Air Training Corps Week in M ellington has run into a patch of bad weather, but the campaign is proceeding according to plan. Recruits are wanted at a greater rate than has been the case so far if Wellington is once more to show the rest of New Zealand that it never fails to answer a worthy call. Any youth from 16 to 20, not already in the Armed I< orces, is asked to at least call at the A.T.C. Centre behind the Central Library and see for himself what he can be trained to do. If he wants to fly he can see in operation the control system of the Harvard trainer of the type that thousands of New Zealanders here and overseas are today using in their intermediate and advanced training. Points that, those organizing the campaign wish to stress again are that joining up for .the A.T.C.. which must be done with the consent ot parents, entails no legal obligation to transfer to tlie R.N.Z.A.F. on reaching the general service age. During his membership the cadet can judge for himself what the A.T.C. does for him and if he wants to carry through to the R.N.Z.A.F. the choice is entirely his own. At 18, members can join the R.N.Z.A.F., with their parents’ consent, and, if required, on condition that they do not go overseas till 21. ■ A formation flight over the city is scheduled for 12.30 p.m. today, if weather conditions make the flight worth while from the viewpoint of spectators. Tonight, from 7 o’clock, there will be a band, variety and motion picture entertainment at the A.T.C. Centro.
