FIRST PRESENTATION
Roman Tragedy Staged By Shakespeare Devotees Shakespeare’s great Roman tragedy “Coriolanus” was heard for the first time iu Wellington last week, when the 'Wellington Shakespeare Society gave its monthly meeting at the Turnbull Library. The plav was directed by Mr C. G. Bloore. The powerful leading purls, Coriolanus and Volnmnia, were well sustained by Mr. I*'. V. O. Francis and Mrs. C. G. Bloore respectively, backed by an excellent cast as follows:- —Valeria, Miss Reilly; Virgilia, Miss Cara Hall; Aufidius, Mr. Bears; Coniinius, Mr. Hakins; Roman tribunes, Messrs. Nicol and Cordery *, citizens,- -senators, and other minor Part* essential to the play, Mr. ami Mrs. S- B. McLean and Mrs. Harvic. The cynically humorous character of Menenius was read by -Mr. C. G. Bloore and stage directions lind explanations of the scenes were in the hands of Mr. IT. F. von Haast. Owing to pressure on accommodation by lovers of Shakespeare who wish to attend the meetings, only members and friends can be admitted by invitation.
