(Received August 8, 5.30 pirn.) BOMBAY, August I. About 500 persons lost their lives when 50 villages were devastated by floods in the south-eastern corner of Ajmer—Merwara province. Heavy rains, swelling the Khari River, caused the floods. Eighteen dams gave way. Loss of property aud live stock is believed to be heavy. ___________
