STATEMENT BY MR.
SCRIMGEOUR Victimization Charge Repeated
The following statement was issued last night by Mr. Scrimgeour : “Ten minutes before closing time tonight, I was handed by special messenger notice of my dismissal; signed by the Minister or Broadcasting, and taking effect immediately. The contents of the letter make it. plain that the only possible reason for this course is that I have, informed the public of facts to which neither the Minister of Broadcasting, nor the Prime Minister has made, or can make, any real answer. , ■ "But after one more working day, the Government by railroading me into, the Army next Tuesday, would in any event have' secured effective termination of my services as Controller of Commercial Broadcasting. "What then could be the reasons for today’s notice of dismissal? Is.it due to revenge oh the part of the Minister? Chis it due to a desire to create a gap of one working day between my leaving the Government service and entering the forces and thus provide a technical, legal excuse for depriving me of my rights to my job when I return from the war? Surely, today’s events are conclusive proof of my case of discrimination and victimization.’’
