April 28. ■ Uulitiished stock at the Addington market today received slight attention and the ell'ecls ol' the dry weather and the close ot the season were shown in Hie poor demand lor store lines. Prime fat cattle sold well, and I here was a similar demaud lor good fat sheep. Boyers refused to take poollots. The fat lamb yarding comprised mostly freezing sheep, which sold well up to schedule. The store sheep entry ot 4<1)0 included 2100 lambs. Competition was poor, except for liesl lots and prices generally were easier. The continued dry weather is still depressing the market. The fat sheep entry of 4500 included a consignment of shipped wethers. Tliere was a iirm market for quality sheep, but there was a slight easing for unfinished ewes, there was good trade competition for the best class freezing buyers also operating. A tolal of 103 shipped wethers made 2'J/O. Best, local wethers. 37/7 to 40/<: too price ewes, 25/10. .* t < . Fat cattle: A lew lines ot prime beef caused a rise of 11l a head for best fat catlie, but others were steady at low rates ruling at the Easter sale. The yarding of 407 comprised a mixed lot of culls, butchers’ cattle ami voung heifers receiving the only competition. The market for old cows is how disappearing rapidly. Bullocks from the far south were eagerly taken by the trade. Prime beef made 37/- to 30/0 per 1001 b.: medium. 33/- to 80/-: seeoiidanv from 30/-. Fat pigs.—The small yarding caused n rise in values of 4/- to 5Z- a head. Porkers were in verv short supply and bidding was keen. A medium entry of baeoners caused ji recovery of hist week’s drop to the steady values of a fortnight ago. Pork made 7Jd. to B]d. per lb., baeou, 7}d. to SJd.
