NEW BOYS’ INSTITUTE SECRETARY

Mr. U. L. Cato, who has been appointed general secretary of the Wellington Boys' Institute, has bad wide experience of similar types of work. He was the first secretary to undertake the combined work of the Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. at Hamilton. Mr. Cato was responsible for starting interimuse girls' marching in both Nelson and the Hull Valley. He built up the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A. membership from *2;>o to Sl5 in two years. Last year lie organized the Creative Leisure Campaign, which entered for 1000 children in the Hull Valley. In his younger dtiyn Mr. Calo was well known in Australia as a public schools runner ami all-round athlete. He won the Waikato I’adminton ehampionshi]) in 1932. lie was gymnastic arid physical instructor to the Hamilton Technical College for three years, and preventiye, corrective and remedial gymnastic instructor for three years at the Hutt Valley High School
