RANGOON DOCKS HIT

Operations In Burma LONDON. February 2. American bombers made a heavy attack on the docks at Rangoon. They blew up warehouses and left large fires burning. In the recent American attack on the Myiting bridge, which spans the Irrawaddy and is vital to the Japanese, it is considered certain that the southern approaches to the bridge were hit. The Japanese are trying to repair the central span, which was knocked out by American aircraft on January 10. An Indian communique says: "Our forward patrols are operating in the Tamu area of the upper Chindwin district. There has been fighting in the vicinity of Donbaik, but elsewhere there is no change. Yesterday R.A.F. bombers escorted bj’ fighters attacked two villages on the Mayli Peninsula. Last night heavy bombers attacked Akyab Island.”
