In perfect weather the annual veterans' gala day for players of 70 years ami over was held yesterday on the Wellington Bowling (job's green. The total ages ol the 128 players amounted Io 9517 years, and the oldest, pair, an Hustboiirno one, aggregated 937 years, an average age of 811, the oldest player being Mr. Lodge, aged Mr. Norrie, president of the Wellington centre, welcomed the players. Mr. Lodge threw the lii-.-t jack ,-n'id Mr. Christiansen. of the Wellington chib, the lirsl bowl. The winners wore a Hull four skipped by Shearer, who defeated a Wei iingloii four 2-1-2 in the first game .-mil a Newtown four by 19-7 in the second game, giving them n margin of 25 points.
