Motorists Concerned At
Increase

Batt, when council members expressed concern at the increase in jay-walking. Even motorists had been known to offend, euinnieiited Mr. D. 11. Clere, who added that he would rather risk prosecution than tui.-w a train. Members agreed that the Wellington railway station was the worst place iu the city for breaches of tbs by-law . After presenting a report of (he roads committee which recommended that, the attention of trailic officers should, be drawn to the occurrence, Mr. E. I’alltsor referred to the improvement in (he-eon-duet of pedestrians at the intersection <>t Manners and Cuba Streets. He was sure that the action of the traffic officers in directing pedestrians back to the pavement. and directing (hem to cross nt the correct lime and place was more embarrassing than prosecution. The committee was still interested in the construelion of safety zones, but considered the present time inappropriate to recommend Iho continuation of the work.
