Householder Fights Fire Down.
Au otliccr of the Wellington Fire Brigade praised the manner in which Mr. S.
J. Helion, occupier of 13G Glenniore Street, fought n fire which broke out in his house shortly before midnight last night. The tiro occurred in u .small bedroom formed by tile enclosing of part of the front verandah, aud it became ti considerable blaz.e. Air. Hollon kept it in check witli saucepans of water and had extinguished the main part of it when the brigade arrived. Damage was done to tlie bed ami Hie walls and ceiling of Ihe room. The brigade received Hie call at 11.50 p.m. mid machines were sent from llm Northland, Tltorndon and Central stations. 'l'lie house is a two-slory building high above Glenmore Street and approached from Crieff Street. Had tlie fire got a more firm hold of tlie house it would have been difficult, because of Ilin approaeli, for file brigade, to combat it. ’l'lie cause of the lire had not boon asi'e,--fained last night.
