Coroner’s Inquest Request

Dominion -Special Service. ■ PALMERSTON N., October 30. A verdict that, Arthur William Rogerson, crane driver, died as the result of injuries sustained when he was crushed between a crane and a rake of trucks, was, returned by the coroner, Mr. A. .1. Graham, at an inquest yesterday. Mr. Ro'wrson died in the Palmerston North Hospital on October 22 following an accident at the railway engine yards earlier that day. , , T . Evidence was given that Rogerson was standing beside a crane when the rake of trucks was being slowly backed. There was only 5* inches clearance between the sides of the trucks and the crane platform. , ~ The coroner asked the Railways Department to look into the possibility ot providing more clearance between the crane track, and also the matter of warning signals being given by the engines.
