Championship Competitions To Start On October 17

The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association, at its first meeting of the, year yesterday, decided that entries for championship competitions should close on October 9, and that the competitions should start on October 17. The following committees were set up for the year: — Senior championship: Messrs, W. A. Baker, I. Nimmo, B. Pegler. Lower grades: Messrs, L. J. Brabm, J. H. Gray, A. RonaldsOn, B. A. Mabin. Hon. membership and finance: Messrs. J. D. Howitt, J. Beid, H.-E. Moore, J. E. Banks. * Publicity: Messrs. Baker, Nimmo and Reid. . Delegate on Umpires’ Association: Mr. H. E; Moore. Coaching: Messrs. Baker, Pegler, P. D. Wilson and Brabiii. Mr. J. B. Watson, representative of the Umpires’ Association, said that for the.past two years they had made no demand on the Cricket Association for travelling expenses, but their funds had now been ■ exhausted, and they would be glad of any assistance. It was decided to grant the Umpires’ Association five guineas toward travelling expenses. It was decided to make application to the Wellington City Council for six wiekets each Saturday for boys under military age.
