With the linal games of the IM2 bigleague baseball schedules played on Sunday the St. Louis Cardinals clinched their hold on the National League pennant by notching two wins over the Chicago Cubs in their last two games, completing their leagues season just those two games ahead of the Brooklyn Lodgers. Brooklyn finished their season with an eight-game winning streak, but the Cardinals made no mistakes, and will now open their first game in the 1942 ‘'world senes against the New York Yankees, the American League pennant' winners, at bt. bonis on Wednesday. , The final plaeings at the top ot tne National League were: St. Louis Cardinals, 10G wins, 48 losses . i .uoo Brooklyn Dodgers, 104 wins, 50 losses .. v< o New York Giants, 85 wins, 67 losses .559 Since August 1 the Cards have won 4.> of the 57 games they have played, including winning streaks of S, 6, and o, and have never lost two games in a row. Brooklyn, in the same period, won 34 of 55 games.
