Lovelock, the New Zealander, at' the Olympic Games at Berlin iu 1936, which was the previous world best amateur record. Glenn Cunningham (U.S.A.) cami' next, with 3min. 48.45ee., ami L. Beccali (Italy) followed with 3min. 4'J.2sec.
