OBITUARY

Sir George Beeby The death is reported in a Press Association message from 'Sydney of Sir George Stephenson Beeby, K.8.K., Chief Judge of the Federal Conciliation and Arbitration Court, aged 73 years. He was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1911. From 1907 to .1920, he was a member of the State Parliament, holding at various times the portfolios of Education, Labour and Industry aud Lauds. From 1920 to 1926, he was a Judge of the Arbitration Court in New 'South IVales, and President of the New South Wales Board of Trade. Mr. P. W. Woods The death of Mr. P. W. Woods, a committee clerk of Parliament Buildings, occurred on' Sunday, lie was very well known in Wellington and throughout the country as a boxing judge. To mark his, services to the sport, he was elected a life member of the Wellington Boxing Association. At the tournament in the Town Hall last night, the announeer for the 'Wellington Boxing Association, Mr. T. Rush, referred to the death of Mr. Woods', and said that he bad been a referee for the association for 30 years. The association greatly regretted his loss, and extended the deepest sympathy -to his relatives. At the instance of Mr. Rush, the crowded audience (flood in respect to Mr. Woods’ memory. Mr. McLachlan was born at Akilio Hi .1885, and moved with his parents to Masterlon at an early age. Mr. McLachlan was a ffe member of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society, a foumli.llou membe'- of . the (Jpaki Hille Cluli, a pasl patron of the Mastcrtim Gun Club, a found.it ion member of the Wairarapa Power Board, a former member of the Masterton County Council, a member of the Opaki School Committee, a formi r Wairarapa Rugby representative. He is survived by three smis. Messrs. Percy, Douglas ami Norman McLachlan,- and four daughters, Mrs., Kemble Welch, Masterlon; Mrs. L. V. Howard, Hastings; Mrs. L. 11. Wilton, “Tirohanga,” and Mrs. 1). G. Stewart, Wellington. There are 26 grand-children and three great-grandehildren. lie was predeceased bv his wife and two sons.
