Military Defaulters
Sir, —I conscientiously object to the so-called conscientious objectors (the military defaulters) being allowed to do what they are evidently enjoying and posing as martyrs. The Government wants all the help possible, and I would respectfully suggest that these objectors be made, under supervisidn, to do necessary jobs. They could be taken to work in squads under escort. It see,ms to me a sensible thing to do, for, apart from the great help, '■ it would take all the romance 1 out of this sort of glorified shirking. Sir, we are all conscientious objectors with regard to war, but we remember the word “honour,” and consider it our duty to help any Government at this time, but most of all to do what is fair to our men who are fighting for us; they trust us to pull our weight. We have no right to sit back and do nothing to help.—l am, etc., HONOUR. Marton, July 13.
