BLACK SAINT ATTRACTS ATTENTION
Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS. July 16. The track was slow for the gallops this morning when Marton candidates had their final trials. Parvati, having her first run along since raced last month, registered 40i for three furlongs. Black Majesty was going easily alongside Trilliarch at the end of five furlongs, run in 634. The former appears to have benefited by the operation for bis wind and will race again at the Hawke’s Bay Hunt fixture. Black Saint, a possibility for Saturday’s hurdles at Marton, finished strongly at. the end of six furlongs in 1.20. Tvar and Worton were going easily over the same distance in 1.22 A. Elastic, who has been rather impressive in his few gallops since coming in after a spell when he was gelded, easily accounted for Captain Tor over half a mile in 52.
Siyana was hard put to finish alongside CheddingtOD over five on the course proper in 644. Indian Sun and Cherry Plum, both booked for the West Coast Steeplechase on Saturday were companions over a mile. Indian Sun had the advantage in 1.53.
Over four brush obstacles on the course proper. Smooger made no mistakes. Boxing Day alone negotiated five hurdles well. Grey Spur was again faulty in her hurdling.
