SAVINGS BONDS ISSUE

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 22.

A new issue on May 1 of 3 per cent, savings bonds, available in multiples as low as £lO, lias been announced in the House of Commons. They will replace the present issue of 3 per cents, and will be issued at par. repayable al par in 1960-1970. They will have five years' longer life than the ol'd issue. The minimum subscription for the new bonds to the Bank of England will be £5O instead of £lOO, and to the Post Office and Trustee Savings Banks it will be £lO instead of £25. The reduction will also apply to National War Bon'ds.
