Australian Coal Mining Troubles (Received April 19. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 19. A political crisis over tlie Government's handling of the coal-mining troubles was forecast by the Minister of Labour. Mr. Ward, when addressing mining officials of tlie northern coalfields. Mr. Ward said: “Au attack is being planned by Hie Opposition, and it will lie launched when Parliament reassembles in a week or I wo.” Mr. Ward charged tlie coal-owners with lhe responsibility for many stoppages. and said that interests were at work for the overthrow of Hie Government, and that a section of the coalowners had a part in the scheme. He appealed to Hie miners to exert every influence to thwart the “scheming of owning interests.”

Mr. 'Ward said lie would order a Federal inquiry’ into the management of Hie coal mines, which would ascertain whether tlie collieries had been operated efficiently and whether coal produelion had been maintained at a maximum.
