Extra Production Needed The urgent need for increased production of phormiuiu tenax (New Zealand llax), specially of cordage grade fibres, was stressed yesterday by the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan. "I ap)>eal to all concerned with llax-grow-ing and milling.” be said, ‘‘te exert every effort to ensure the greatest possible production ■without delay Further supplies are urgently required for important war and other essential contracts in New Zealand, and in addition substantial quantities are urgently needed for export to the United Kingdom ami America to assist war requirements there. "An appeal is made to all millers who have mills iu ‘production to aim at considerably increased output; and those millers whose pl-iut is net oi>erating at present are asked to resume operations without delay. "To secure increased quantities of green leaf, it may bo necessary to go farther afield for supplies. To provide for such a contingency, arrangements have been made io meet lhe extra costs involved by an adjustment of selling prices, particularly of tne cordage type."
