Tribute By Dominions Secretary (British Official Wireless.) (Received April 17, 7 p.m.) RUGBY. April 16. The Secretary for rhe Dominions, Mr. Attlee, today paid a warm tribute to Australia and the Australian forces and expressed the universal admiration for the vigorous attack which the Australian Air Force lias been delivering against the Japanese in the New Guinea area. - Mr. Attlee declared: "We should very much like to have seen Mr. Curtin over here, but we realize that it is impossible for him to leave Australia at present. We are looking forward to welcoming Dr. Evatt very soon and in the meantime Britain has welcomed, as a member of the United Kingdom Cabinet, the distinguished Australian, Mr. R. G. Casey.” The Minister expressed the conviction that the consultations in London with the United States lease-lend director, Mr. Hopkins, and the Chief of the United States Staff, General Marshall, would bear fruit. He added: "It has been tin inevitable feature of the present war that we were thrown largely on the defensive at the outset, but the time will come when we will more and more turn to the offensive.”
