WOMEN FOR WAR WORK IN AMERICA
WASHINGTON, April 15,
The War Department announced that women would be recruited from the civilian ranks for the Army Signal Corps to help to meet the urgent need for engineers and technicians. The House Naval Committee approved a measure to increase the Women's Auxiliary Reserve in the Navy to relieve men for seagoing duty. Enlistment will be voluntary. The women will be used for communications, photographic and laboratory work, as well as cooking and other tasks.
