Wellington City Milk

Reporting to the Wellington City Council last night, the chairman of the milk committee, Cr. L. McKenzie, said the milk department showed a profit of £1360 for the year ended March 31 last, a reduction of £2107 compared with the protit for the previous twelve months. Under the prevailing conditions, said Cr. McKenzie, the trading result was satisfactory. The profit represented onefortieth of a penny a quart of milk sold. During the year the department established several records. Its sales of milk. 3.107,306 gallons, and cream 530,872 pints, were both records, as was its revenue, £406,680. In the last 10 years the departments milk sales bad increased by no less than 72 per cent., and cream sales by 200 per cent. The cost of allowances paid to employees on active service overseas was £1572, and the department contributed £1250 to E.P.S. organization.
