TRANSPORT INDUSTRY’S PART IN WAR
“The ‘right of the line' has ever been the pride of place in all British fighting history, and this place New Zealand now’ holds,” said the retiring president, Mr. W. 1. J. Blyth, in moving the adoption of the report at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Carriers’ federation, held in Wellington yesterday. ■'With our communications cut, and our backs to the wall, then anything that is aelted of the transport industry, it must surely do. The provision by the industry of the lines of communication motor transport companies must prove to be <>f great value to the Dominion, and reports indicate the preparedness and readiness of these companies to do any job required of them.”
The election of officers resulted :—-President, Mr H. Simpson (Auckland) ; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. I. J. Blyth (Wellington), J. H. Kirkwood (Dunedin), C. J. Mahon (Auckland), and A. Moon i Auckland).
