The fact that the Arbitration Court hull recently decided that an increase ot 5 per cent, be made in the wages- of work- , rs, was referred to at a recent meeting <>f the Dominion executive committee of the N.Z.R.S.A. It was pointed out that this was the second occasion upon which an increase had been decided upon, each being coincident with the rise in the cost of living. Representations to the Government in-, creases' in the economic and dei>endants' pensions mid in the dependants' allowances paid to the relatives' of men in the Armed Forces hud been made repeatedly by the N.Z.R.S.A. during the past eighteen months without success. It was. therefore, decided to approach the Government again, pointing out that the increases in wages imide available by lhe Arbitration Court had not been made lor more work, but on account of the rising cost of living, and to urge that the war pensioners mid dependmits of lhe fighting men should also have their pensions mid allowances increased, al least by the smile percentage as' the wages ot workers mid public servants. It was emphasized that there had been no increase in the economic pension rate since 1923.
